2017 Night of Stars Gala

Regional leaders and entertainers aid in transforming the lives of youth by coming together with Covenant House to celebrate the achievements of the evenings true stars; homeless, disconnected and exploited young people.

Washington, DC (May 25, 2017) – Covenant House Washington, brings together leaders in the community focused on creating safe environments that give disconnected youth the tools they need to enter and be more effective in the workforce. Night of Stars gala, Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the Historic Howard Theatre. Recognizes regional and national leaders for their help in building foundations in the lives of fragile young people ages 12 – 24, who rely on CHW as a safety net to help them achieve reunification with families or become self sustained adults and active members in the community.

“The model of CHW’s comprehensive approach meets the individual needs for homeless youth far beyond just a place to sleep, our model is highlighted by the incredible outcomes of our youth; and we are excited to share their achievements at Night of Stars gala” said President and CEO of Covenant House Washington, Dr. Madye Henson. CHW sent 25 youth to college fall of 2016, has achieved over an 80 percent rate for homeless youth to stable housing after transitioning out of CHW’s programs, with 83 percent of youth in transitional housing gainfully employed.

Covenant House Washington

Lizzie Award

The Lizzie Award is the highest honor across Covenant House. This award honors an individual who has done significant philanthropic efforts and made noteworthy contributions to individuals, families and communities with special emphasis on the service that positively affect the population of undeserved homeless and disconnected young people annually served by CHW.

Dove Award

The Dove Award honors an individual or entity that has made a significant financial and in-kind contributions to support the core mission of CHW.

Virginia E. Williams Award

The Virginia E. Williams Award honors an individual who gives tirelessly of his/her time and talents to Covenant House Washington and its mission of creating opportunities and resources for homeless and disconnected young people in the Greater DC region.
